Whale disentanglement exercise conducted in Sydney Harbour

[6 May, 2010] A four metre whale has been freed from a tangle of nets and long-line fishing tackle in Sydney Harbour.

But the whale, named Milly, was mechanical and the "Free Milly" exercise was practice for the National Parks and Wildlife Services (NPWS) team who have the job of freeing real live whales.

It was good practice for what is expected to be a busy season ahead of helping rescue whales. Read more.
