Twitter "scavenger hunt" terms and conditions

  1. This competition (the "Promotion") is open to residents of Australia aged 18 or over.
  2. The Promotion is not open to employees of NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), individuals providing services to NPWS, suppliers providing services to NPWS, as well as the their immediate families.
  3. By entering, all entrants will be deemed to accept these terms and conditions, including the Promoter's Privacy Statement set out below. Entry instructions form part of these terms and conditions. 
  4. Entry Instructions: The Promotion begins on Tuesday 18 October at 10am (EST) and ends on Thursday 20 October at 10am (EST) (the "Promotion Period").  Step 1: Follow @WildaboutWhales account on Twitter (http://twitter.com/wildaboutwhales) Step 2: On Tuesday 18 October at 10am (EST) a question will be asked relating to whales, with a link to a relevant wildaboutwhales.com.au site page, from which to source the answer.  To enter, you must have already completed Step 1, and then submit your answer by tweeting it to @wildaboutwhales.
  5. Your response must be posted within 48 hours of the originally posted question, i.e. by 10AM on Thursday 20 October (the “Closing Date”).  All correct answer tweets posted within 48 hours of the question posting will be entered for a chance to win. NPWS reserves the right to determine, in its sole discretion, if an answer is correct and eligible for entry in the draw.   NPWS also reserves the right to re-tweet any answers received.
  6. Entries received after the Closing Date with not be processed. Incomplete and/or incorrect entries will not be eligible.
  7. One winner of the competition will be drawn at random by an independent judge, from all correct entries received by the relevant Closing Date. The judge's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  8. Winners will be notified via Twitter and required to provide an email address and phone number. NPWS will endeavor to notify the winner within 7 days of the Promotion draw taking place. To claim the prize, the winner must contact the Promoter and confirm contact information by close of business on the 7th day following the date of notification to the winner. NPWS or an affiliated company will then contact the winner to arrange delivery of the prize.
  9. If the winner fails to contact the Promoter, or the winner declines the prize, the winner will be disqualified and a new winner will be drawn at random in the same manner.
  10. The prize is a whale watching voucher for two adults, along with a daily pass to a selected National Park within NSW. The whale watching experience will be provided by a whale watching tour operator from the following:
    - Go Sea Kayak Byron Bay (Byron Bay)
    - Pacific Explorer (Coffs Harbour)
    - Moonshadow Cruises (Port Stephens)
    - Tamboi Queen Cruises (Port Stephens)
    - Narooma Charters (Narooma)
    - Merimbula Marina (Merimbula)
    The selection of whale watching tour operator will depend on the location and preference of the winner. The winner is responsible for organising their own transportation to the operator, as well as accommodation any other associated travel costs. The winner will also be responsible for booking their whale watching experience directly with the operator, using the details as provided on the voucher.
  11. The NSW national park free entry pass allows the entry for one private vehicle (up to 8 seats) into any NPWS managed area in NSW with a park user fee.
  12. There is no cash alternative to the prize and the prize is not transferable.
  13. The Promoter reserves the right to (a) award an alternative prize of equal or greater value and (b) in exceptional circumstances to vary, amend or withdraw this competition on reasonable notice.

  15. Privacy: The Promoter respects winners' privacy and is committed to collect, store or use personal data only for the purposes of this contest. The information provided to the Promoter will not be held for longer than is necessary for the purpose of processing entry to the Promotion.
  16. Each entrant releases from and indemnifies OEH/NPWS against all liability, cost, loss or expense arising out of acceptance of any prize or participation in the promotion including (but not limited to) personal injury and damage to property and whether direct or consequential, foreseeable, due to some negligent act or omission or otherwise.
